Mar 24 - The Art of Enlightenment
Saturday, March 24 • 10am – 5pm
with Gen Kelsang Lingpur
Please preregister by Thursday, March 22 as space is limited.
Drawing or painting images of Buddhas is a very powerful and profound way to transform our mind. When we relate to sacred images our mind becomes blessed and peaceful, we feel closer to Enlightened Beings and establish a more personal relationship with them.
Everyone welcome: Artists, Non-Artists, Buddhists, Non-Buddhists and all others welcome! In this one-day course Gen Lingpur will introduce the iconographic principles of sacred Buddhist art. For over two and a half thousand years, Buddhists have practiced the art of depicting holy forms in paintings and statues.
No prior art experience is necessary and everyone will complete a painting of the face of Buddha. If time allows, we will also practice painting the face on bronze statues. Everyone will also be provided with grids for a full-body painting (Tibetan: thangka) of Buddha Shakyamuni. All supplies are provided.
Cost: $60 including vegetarian lunch
