New topic in April: How to Solve Our Human Problems
based on the new American edition
by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
When things go wrong in our life and we
encounter difficult situations, we tend to regard the situation itself as our problem, but
in reality whatever problems we experience come from the side of the mind.
If we responded to difficult situations with positive or peaceful mind they would not be
problems for us. Eventually we might even regard them as challenges or opportunities for
growth and development.
Problems arise only if we respond to difficulties with a negative state of mind.
Therefore, if we want to be free from problems, we must transform our mind.
These classes introduce the fundamentals of Buddhist
meditation and psychology. Their purpose is to help students gain some experience of inner
peace and learn ways to help them solve their daily problems. Each session consists of a
breathing and de-stressing meditation, a teaching, a guided meditation and an opportunity
for questions.
These weekly classes are on a "drop-in"
basis. No pre-registration is required. Everyone is welcome to attend. $10 suggested
donation or 5 class coupons for $40. Please try to arrive at least 5 minutes before
the start of the session.
